Eco Art / Earth Art Challenge

Eco Art / Earth Art Challenge

Earth Day is April 22!

Let's use the naturally organic things around us to make our art!

There are three levels to this challenge. This week, each challenge will have a couple options. Try one and see what you can come up with.
* hint: begin with the topic idea in mind and use your found materials to create your art
* note: these are all temporary pieces of art and all three challenges will use these types of found elements.

Materials:
- sticks
- rocks/pebbles/shells (whatever you have available)
- flowers/nuts/leaves (whatever you can find)

Show me what you come up with! I would love to see!
Send either a quick picture or short video to me:

2-5 Challenge: Symbols and Designs

* add additional rocks around the middle, creating a spiral
* add more rocks to make the spiral as big as you can
- have fun!

Medium Mandala (Radial Symmetry) Directions:

* place a rock on the ground, to serve as the middle, starting point
* arrange five items (maybe leaves?), equally, around the center rock
* arrange another five items (maybe sticks?), equally, around the center rock
* arrange another five items (maybe flowers?)
* and another five
* and another five
- have fun with this and see how many natural items you can use to make this circular design

6-8 Challenge: Natural Installation Art

Directions:

* Look up the image topic: Eco Art and/or Earth Art in Google
- There will be many images of rock stacking, stick building, etc.
* Choose an artist or image that inspires you
* Gather up the natural materials you need
* Try creating something like what you saw

artist tip: I only used one zip tie to create mine, otherwise I used the dirt, gravity and the angle of the sticks, creating a tee-pee formation and then wove the sticks together as I added them.
